In Isaiah 30:21, it says, “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.'”
I recall a personal experience when I went to the MV LOGOS ship in Ghana to purchase reading materials. Initially, I couldn’t buy everything I wanted due to a long queue, but I decided to return on a weekday when the crowd was smaller. On my way back, feeling tired and sleepy, I engaged the Holy Spirit in prayer. I asked for guidance on whether to go to my regular store or my neighborhood supermarket for squid. The Holy Spirit directed me to the neighborhood store, and to my surprise, they had the squid I needed.
Through moments like these and many encounters with the Holy Spirit, I have come to realize the importance of heeding God’s promptings in major decisions. It began with asking Him for help when I misplaced something, and now I can discern His voice from my own intuition and other deceptive influences.
John 10:27 says, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” Are you willing to humble yourself and become like a sheep, obedient and attentive to the Shepherd’s voice?
The verse in Isaiah speaks about hearing a voice guiding us on which direction to take. When we trust the Lord and acknowledge Him in all our undertakings, leaning not on our own understanding, He will make our paths straight (Proverbs 3:5).
Adhering to this principle can help us avoid mistakes in choosing life partners and discerning opportunities that may lead to future problems. Just as the tribe of Issachar understood the signs of the times and knew what Israel ought to do, we can align ourselves with God’s desires for our lives.
Psalm 37:4 encourages us to delight ourselves in the Lord, and He will give us the desires of our hearts. When we partner with the Lord and trust Him to guide our every step, our lives become beautiful and purposeful.
So, in prayer, let us ask the Father to remove anything in us that does not please Him and fill us with His Holy Spirit, surrendering our will to His.
Amen!
